Nadereh Chamlou
Former Senior Advisor, The World Bank, Co- Founder of The Billion Dollar Fund for Women, USA
Nadereh Chamlou is currently an International Development Advisor and was formerly a Senior Advisor at the World Bank. During her three-decade career with the World Bank Group, she held technical, coordination, managerial, and advisory functions in diverse fields such as economic management, corporate governance, private sector development, financial markets, environment, infrastructure, and Gender. Her experience extends to North and South America, East Asia, Europe, and the Middle East and North Africa regions.
Her focus has been on entrepreneurship and private sector development, particularly highlighting sustainable growth and competitiveness through better utilization of the talent pool, inclusion, and gender equality. She authored seminal publications on these topics and now serves on the board of organizations focusing on research, empowerment, and innovation, among them: Board Member of the iBridges for hi-tech innovative startups; Board Member of the International Iranian Economic Association; Board Member of the Arab International Women’s Forum; Member of the International Advisory Committee of Nyenrode Business Universiteit in The Netherlands; Advisor to the Center for International Private Enterprise; Advisor to the Tunis-based Center for Arab Women’s Training and Research; and co-founder of The Billion Dollar Fund for Women that strived to attract early stage venture capital for women-owned/led businesses. She went to Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and Graduate School for Economics, and received The International Alliance for Women’s 2015 “Making a Difference” Global Award.
