Dr. Ismail Serageldin is The Emeritus Librarian of Alexandria, and the Founding Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA), the new Library of Alexandria, inaugurated in 2002, is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the Library of Alexandria.
